I've just analyzed the problems for some time and it seems like the broadcasting mechanism does not work anymore on Windows Phone 8. I have to put more research into this to find the issue, it may also just be a networking problem I'm not aware of currently.

Other than that the project is working fine on WP8 once you set up the environment correctly (e.g. make sure the Firewall on the remote computer does not block the communication). I've still updated the project to WP8 though and also add some more features to the samples, in particular the possibility to choose from the available IP addresses so you can bind to whatever address is required (if there are multiple). I still have some work to do, like updating the referenced libraries (there seems to be a problem with the way I use the prompt control of the Coding4Fun toolkit with the updated version of it), so it will take some more time until I upload the changes.

Thanks a lot for your concern, i will be looking forward to a sample wp8 app(using PAARC library) from your side,
it would of great help for WP8 developers :)
( ow, and one thing, we're using visual studio 2012 express, so maybe no PLC support there, please provide necessary instructions as how to use the Paarc sample for wp8 without PLC support )

Hi.

I'd say that the components should continue to work as before, however there seem to be a problem with the phone client sample app and network detection at the moment. I'm quite busy at the moment, however since I recently moved to WP8 I'll also have a personal interest to fix this :). I'll keep you posted here.

How can i use PAARC library for Windows Phone 8 ? Is the same method as described in documentation?
I use Visual Studio 2012, Wp8 SDK, and

Hi. Like I wrote in the other post, the documentation also contains a detailed description of what is needed to compile the sources yourself, and how to use the individual components to build your own app. => http://paarc.codeplex.com/documentation

If you're still running into problems, I would need to get more details (error messages, particular steps that fail etc.).

I downloaded the app and tried it with Visual Studio 2010 for Windows Phone,it did not support it and din work.. I also tried it in VS Express for Win8..Yet I get errors tellin the package cannot be loaded completely..Certain files are not getting added.. I kindly want to know how can I execute it and work on it.. I need to develop an application to control Windows Desktop through Windows Phone..Just give me a clear picture on how can I use PAARC and learn through it..

Hi. The two approaches are separate things - you don't have to combine them to make this work. I think it should be possible to both integrate PAARC in your app to send the control commands/gestures, and to use the other project to transfer the desktop content back to the phone, without making any changes to the PAARC library.

To integrate PAARC, the docs already give you a very detailed starting point.

I cannot help you with the desktop viewer though, as I don't know that project and how to adapt it for the phone.

WP7: How to Communicate with a Desktop Application

hi

I find app can show the desktop screen using WCF

If I use WCF with this application to view desktop, will it work when I use it with Sockets??

(I already have desktop viewer work with WCF on windows form C# and I will transform it in WP7 apps)

Or how can I develop a server can view desktop with socket????????

Hi. The library is not meant for arbitrary client-server communication. In particular, the server can only send configuration and control commands to the client that determine what controller input data is generated on the client.

You can however take a look at the code to get an idea how to implement your own communication for your game, and of course reuse parts of the code if you see a fit for it.

this library looks wonderful but I am running into the following issue as I cannot open the projects:

The project type is not supported by this installation.

I will also answer to the email you sent me; In short: I think it's easy to isolate individual features, like for example the server discovery, from the project. It's not so obvious though to turn this into a full generic library for sending arbitrary messages back and forth. For example, at the moment the server implementation does not follow usual standards (e.g. connections from multiple clients simultaneously, since this doesn't make sense for a remote controlling app).

But I agree that it's a nice idea to have a somewhat generic library on top of (the low-level) sockets that takes away some of the pesky details from devs.
